Pertama kali gue terpesona ketika melihat dia pakai uniform/pakaian dinas harian dengan model rok panjang. Kerudungnya motif kotak-kotak warna merah agak gelap bergradasi ke merah pudar sampai coklat kalem. Fisically, jadi kelihatan lebih dewasa aja. Sexy! Pada satu kesempatan secara tak sengaja mata kita bertatap pandang seiring lagu Truly Madly Deeply-nya Savage Garden yang sedang mengalun melalui Windows Media Player di komputer kerja gue. Hanya sekian detik bertepatan dengan lirik yang berbunyi: “… I wanna bed with you in the sea…”

Pagi tadi sebelum berangkat kerja, selagi sarapan saya mendengarkan radio Elshinta. Saya lupa nama acaranya. Seorang bapak menceritakan betapa menderitanya ketika salah satu anggota keluarganya masuk penjara di lapas Tangerang. Beliau bertutur bahwasannya setiap kali menjenguk diharuskan menyetor uang sebesar minimal Rp. 300 000,-. Uang tersebut menjamin agar tahanan tidak menjadi bulan-bulanan di dalam penjara. Saya heran, penjara atau lembaga pemasyarakatan itu kan sebenarnya sekolahnya para pelaku kriminal. Tujuannya mendidik para narapidana agar sekeluarnya dari penjara bisa menjadi orang yang lebih baik dan siap melanjutkan hidup berbekal ketrampilan yang diajarkan sewaktu di penjara/lapas. Tapi faktanya lingkungan penjara malah berpotensi membuat mantan narapidana menjadi lebih brutal. Saya yakin ini tidak terjadi di Tangerang saja bahkan di penjara-penjara internasional sekalipun seperti Guantanamao.

Apa yang membuat semua itu terjadi? Kesempatan. Analoginya seperti ketika kita berada di kapal laut, di tengah perjalanan mulut asem banget. Keinginan untuk merokok sudah tak terbendung sementara rokok bekal sudah habis. Mau tak mau beli rokok di kantin kapal yang harganya bisa tiga kali lipat dari harga normal. Kalau enggan terima dengan harga tersebut pilihannya adalah tidak merokok sampai kapal berlabuh atau berenang demi mendapatkan rokok lebih murah. Posisi tawar atau bargaining power.

Penjara itu lingkungan yang sangat kompleks. Tidak kondusif. Bayangkan saja terkurung didalam tembok berterali besi yang setiap bloknya bisa dihuni sekitar 16 – 20 narapidana dengan berbagai latar belakang kasus. Padahal ukuran bloknya hanya segede kamar rumah tipe RSSS. Frustrasi. Kalau yang benar-benar gak kuat bisa jadi gila. Makanya jangan pernah bercita-cita masuk penjara. Dalam tahanan selama satu malam saja rasanya sudah sangat lama sekali. Ngilu raga jiwa yang terbelenggu.
